Bastrop High School CustodiansBastrop High School is seeking a dependable, self-motivated, and detail-oriented School Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming learning environment for students, staff, and visitors. The custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning, sanitation, maintenance support, and facility preparation duties while adhering to district policies, safety standards, and established procedures.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeterias, and other assigned areas.Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and maintain floors and surfaces.Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste appropriately.Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed.Clean windows, doors, walls, and fixtures.Assist with setting up and breaking down facilities for special events, meetings, and school activities.Perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, vandalism, or security issues to the appropriate supervisor.Ensure school buildings and grounds are maintained in a safe, orderly, and presentable condition.Follow all district safety procedures, cleaning protocols, and security requirements.Operate custodial equipment and cleaning tools safely and effectively.Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities.Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervisor.Minimum Qualifications-High school diploma or GED preferred.-Previous custodial, janitorial, maintenance, or related experience preferred but not required.-Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.-Ability to work independently with limited supervision.-Reliable attendance and punctuality.-Ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and the public.Physical Requirements-Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, and carry.-Lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.-Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.-Operate cleaning equipment and use custodial supplies safely.-Perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday.Required Pre-Employment ScreeningEmployment is contingent upon successful completion of all district hiring requirements, which may include criminal background checks and fingerprinting, drug screening, verification of employment eligibility, verification of education and work history, and any additional requirements established by MPSD and Louisiana law.Equal Employment OpportunityThe Morehouse Parish School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, genetic information, veteran status, or any other status protected by federal or state law.
