School Custodian Full-Time (Immediate Opening)Schechter Boston is looking for a dedicated Custodian to join our team. The Custodian will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment that supports students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position performs daily cleaning, sanitation, and basic maintenance tasks throughout classrooms, offices, common areas, and outdoor spaces, ensuring the school facilities meet health, safety, and cleanliness standards. The Custodian plays an important role in supporting the school's mission by helping create a respectful and well-maintained environment conducive to learning and community life.Key ResponsibilitiesClean and maintain classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeteria, and common areasClean and sanitize surfaces according to established schedulesSet up and break down rooms for school events and programsAssist with trash and recycling removalMonitor building conditions and report maintenance or safety concernsSupport seasonal tasks such as snow removal, light groundskeeping, or summer cleaningFollow all school safety, health, and security proceduresQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredPrior custodial or facilities experience preferredAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong verbal and written communication skills, including phone, email, and textAbility to follow instructions accurately and work to resolve routine issuesComfortable and knowledgeable in the safe use of cleaning equipment, power tools, and hand toolsReliability, punctuality, and a positive attitudePhysically able to stand, walk, bend frequently, and lift up to 75 poundsReliable transportation required; must be able to pass a background checkValid MA Drivers LicenseCompensation & Benefits40 hours per week with opportunity for frequent overtime.Competitive pay $21-$27 per hour; commensurate with experience.We thrive to provide a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package that supports our faculty and staff, including: health insurance, prescription drug benefit, vision, healthcare/dependent care flexible spending account (FSA), long term disability, life insurance, 403(b) with employer matching, paid holidays, sick time and personal time, and early dismissal on Fridays.
