Job description
School Nurse Position
The Superintendent invites qualified and interested persons to apply for the position of School Nurse within the Office of Early Childhood. Qualifications and Requirements include an appropriate New Jersey Department of Education Standard Certificate or eligibility for an Emergency license, a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, and a current New Jersey registered professional nurse license. Preferred experience includes a minimum of five years as a registered nurse. Bilingual skills in English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French Creole are a plus.
Basic Functions and Responsibilities include developing comprehensive health records for new students, performing routine screenings, providing emergency medical care, counseling on medical and health-related information, conducting tuberculin screening programs, reviewing medical records annually, participating in health education programs, and assisting in planning a safe and healthful school environment.
Salary: $67,000-$111,625 for SY (plus $3,000 stipend). Employment Period: Ten (10) months. Union Affiliation: Newark Teachers Association (NTA). For details on benefits, please visit nboehrs.com.
