n$45,578 minimum salary or based on applicable experience.
nJOB GOAL: The goal of the School Nurse is to provide professional health services and serve as a source of health information for the school community. Health is defined as physical, emotional and mental health.
nRESPONSIBILITIES:
nnnPupil Health
n
nnAssists with health examinations for new entrants and grades: Pre-K, K, 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and athletic certification.
n
nnMaintains health records and provides documentation of services.
n
nnMaintains communication with parents, teachers and staff regarding pupil’s health.
n
nnMaintains close working relationship with school physician
n
nnContacts outside agencies and makes referrals when appropriat
n
nnContacts and works with support personnel within the school as needed regarding student health.
n
nnImmunization
n
nnConducts annual immunization survey of student records, as required by the State Health Department.
n
nnReviews immunization records of all incoming students and makes appropriate referrals.
n
nnHealth Screening Maintains records and screens Vision/Hearing/Spinal Columns as required by New York State Law.
n
nnPupil Personnel Services Serves as a member of the PPS team.
n
nnMedication Stores and administers medication in accordance with New York State Law.
n
nnCare of Illness or Injury=
n
nnIs available at all times to administer first aid.
n
nnServices pupil needs (illness, injury, counseling), handicapping conditions and chronically ill.
n
nnHealth Education Serves as a resource for current health information obtained from outside health agencies.
n
nnAttendance
n
nnProcesses daily attendance;
n
nnProcesses tardy students;
n
nnProcesses early dismissal.
n
nnEnvironmental Health Conducts periodic inspection of facility and reports to appropriate staff.
n
nnClerical Processes school Incident and Accident Insurance Claim Forms and/or Workman’s Compensation Forms.
n
nnOther
n
nnProvides for duties subject to the direction of the Superintendent of School, Building Principal.
n
nnServes on Building committees appropriate to assist student achievement.
n
nnCarries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities, which may be deemed appropriate by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education.
n
n nJob Qualifications
nMust meet New York State Certification requirements for a Registered Nurse
