Description:
The Special Education Teacher Assistant will work with students with disabilities under the direction and supervision of certified personnel.
The role aims to assist students in reaching their goals as indicated on their IEPs.
Under the direction of the Special Education Teacher, the Special Education Teacher Assistant will assist in implementing IEP goals.
The Assistant will carry out small group instruction and assist in one-on-one instruction as needed.
They will assist teachers and therapists in maintaining appropriate data and records.
Support for the continuous implementation of skills and goals related to students' OT, SLP, and PT needs is essential.
The Assistant will carry out and maintain computer skills and communication devices for students.
Implementation of equipment, sensory, mobility, behavior plans, and self-care plans per students' needs is required.
The physical ability to assist in lifting students for the purpose of positioning, changing, and toileting is essential.
Candidates must demonstrate sound decision-making capabilities consistent with established school policies and procedures.
Following instructions provided by school administrators and assigned staff is required.
Familiarity with state and district established rules and regulations governing the education of students, including those with disabilities, is necessary.
Providing direct academic, behavioral, and self-help support to students in both regular and special education classrooms is part of the role.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to reproduce and maintain files of learning materials using current technology.
The ability to lift, transfer, feed, and toilet students when necessary is required.
Integration of student IEP goals, including OT, PT, and S/L goals, into the daily curriculum is expected.
Maintaining confidentiality is crucial.
Mobility and agility are required for the position.
All appropriate certification requirements must be kept current.
Alternatives to the qualifications may be considered as deemed appropriate by relevant authorities.
