Job Description
Make a difference every day by supporting a young student’s health and educational journey in an elementary school setting. This contract position offers a unique opportunity to blend your clinical expertise as a Registered Nurse with meaningful participation in a child’s school life as a classroom paraeducator.
You’ll be responsible for providing dedicated one-on-one medical care to an elementary student, ensuring their well-being and inclusion while also helping with educational activities in the classroom.
What you’ll bring:
Active Illinois RN license in good standing
Current CPR certification
Experience in pediatric or school nursing highly valued
Comfort with both clinical and paraeducator responsibilities
Compassionate approach, flexibility, and a collaborative mindset
Willingness to accompany the student on their bus route to and from school
What you'll do:
Deliver individualized nursing care and medication administration per student’s health plan
Monitor and respond to the student’s medical needs throughout the school day, including on the bus
Support classroom learning by assisting with assignments and daily activities as a paraeducator
Communicate effectively with school staff and parents regarding the student’s well-being
Maintain accurate records and adhere to all safety and privacy protocols
This position is located at a single school site with a part-time schedule (approximately 27-28 hours per week, with potential for increased hours some weeks) and runs through the end of the school year.
