Job description
School-Based Registered Nurse
Embrace an impactful role as a school-based registered nurse, supporting middle school students in a vibrant, fast-paced environment near Joliet, IL. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the health office, manage student health needs, and complete medical reviews
Participate actively in IEP and 504 planning processes, documenting in electronic health record systems
Support students' health needs throughout the day, including occasional personal care assistance as part of a collaborative team
Communicate effectively with staff, students, and families to ensure continuity of care
Demonstrate flexibility, dependability, and strong teamwork to adapt to changing school needs
Work independently, show initiative, and be comfortable with technology and electronic documentation
Commit to the full school-year calendar and uphold excellent attendance
Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
Currently hold or willing to obtain a Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Nurse Endorsement
Dedication to pursuing Short-Term Approval for School Nurse and commitment to a CSN program within 1–2 years (for qualified BSN-prepared nurses)
Prior Certified School Nurse experience or Spanish bilingual skills are highly valued
Flexibility, collaboration, and a passion for supporting student well-being are essential
Position Details:
Contract role, middle school-focused
School hours are typically 7:40 a.m.–2:50 p.m., specific assignment may vary
Requires consistency and reliability for the remainder of the school year
