Job description
Step into a vital role supporting student health and well-being as a dedicated School Nurse for the upcoming academic year. This contract position runs from September 3, 2026, through June 23, 2026, offering a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 32.5 hours weekly). Two openings are available, and you may be placed in either a preschool, elementary, or middle school health room environment.
In this setting, you'll be the primary healthcare professional in your building, entrusted with delivering comprehensive care to students and collaborating with an advisory support team whenever needed. Your expertise will be essential in promoting a healthy school community.
Essential Qualifications:
Active New Jersey RN License or CSN certification required
Prior experience as a school nurse strongly preferred
Familiarity with Genesis charting system desired
Confidence and independence to work as the sole nurse in a school
Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills
Commitment to upholding student confidentiality and safety
Key Responsibilities: Assess, treat, and manage student health concerns, injuries, and illnesses
Maintain accurate electronic health records utilizing the Genesis system
Administer prescribed medications and emergency interventions
Act as liaison between families, school staff, and external healthcare providers
Develop and implement care plans for students with chronic conditions
Educate students and staff on wellness topics and health protocols
Respond quickly and effectively to urgent health needs on campus
