Job description
Make a meaningful impact as a School Social Worker in a supportive educational setting near Gardiner, ME! This contract opportunity offers the chance to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to promote student well-being and address barriers to learning.
Key Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program
Valid state licensure/certification for school-based social work
Previous experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in schools
Strong knowledge of crisis intervention, behavioral support, and mental health resources
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to build trust with students, families, and faculty from diverse backgrounds
Primary Responsibilities: Assess student needs and develop intervention strategies to support academic and emotional success
Provide individual and group counseling on social, emotional, and behavioral concerns
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including teachers, counselors, and special education staff, to create and implement support plans
Facilitate referrals to community agencies and mental health resources as needed
Participate in the development of IEPs and 504 plans for students requiring additional services
Develop and conduct workshops for students, parents, and staff on relevant topics such as bullying, mental wellness, and social skills
Maintain thorough documentation and comply with all privacy and reporting regulations
