Job description
Step into an impactful role supporting 8th grade students as a dedicated school social worker. This contract opportunity, covering a maternity leave from mid-August through late November, is a unique chance to make a positive difference as students navigate an important year. You'll work closely with a manageable caseload of around 20-25 students, encompassing both general education and special education backgrounds. Your focus will be on providing guidance, advocacy, and essential social-emotional support at a pivotal time.
Key Qualifications:
Valid social worker credential appropriate for school settings
Experience collaborating in educational environments with adolescents
Background supporting both general education and special education students is a plus
Strong communication, empathy, and organizational skills
Ability to build trust and rapport quickly with students and staff
Primary Responsibilities: Deliver individual and small-group counseling geared toward 8th graders' academic and personal growth
Address barriers to learning by developing strategies alongside educators and families
Provide crisis intervention support as needed
Help facilitate positive behavior interventions and restorative practices
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure holistic student well-being
Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school guidelines
