Job description
Scrap Handler Class 3 – Full-Time – Portland, IN 47371POSITION SUMMARY:The Scrap Handler picks up product off the floor and discards it into the properly color-coded barrels or scrap modules, ensures that reusable product is placed in the proper barrels for regrind, keeps the department neat and clean, reports any issues to the supervisor or lead and fills out various log sheets.RESPONSIBILITIES AND KNOWLEDGE:Responsible for picking up scrap/trash and discarding it into the properly color-coded barrel or scrap modulesAssures that only product that is contaminated, burnt, or unfit for regrind is going into the proper color-coded scrap barrelsEnsures that reusable product from the line is placed in the white barrels for regrind reprocessingResponsible for keeping scrap barrels clean and in good shape. Damaged scrap barrels are to be discardedResponsible for pushing scrap module back to shipping once it is full, weighing the scrap and dumping it properly and recording weightsResponsible for keeping the floors clean (sweeping) and free of debrisPerform any other work as assigned by supervisorComply with all safety, food safety, GMP and SQF RequirementsMust perform all positions of rotation, if applicableUse and read scalesAbility to perform basic math functions (adding, subtracting, multiplying, etc.) with use of calculatorPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.The Team Member will flex/grip with wrists/handsThe Team Member will walk, bend, stand, and repetitive lifting from floor levelMust be willing and able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basisThe Team Member must be able to move heavy objects with a mechanical deviceWork Shift:3RD SHIFT (United States of America)Tyson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
