Crazy King Production is seeking a screenwriter for a narrative short film (approximately 15 minutes) currently in development.
Genre: Social Thriller / Legal Drama / Mystery
Project Overview
It explores race, perception, institutional trust, and the systems that shape who receives the benefit of the doubt. The story follows two self‑defense cases in Sacramento County that appear unrelated until a journalist uncovers a hidden public‑safety system influencing how risk and credibility are perceived.
Seeking
Strong short‑film writing experience
Ability to balance social themes with compelling narrative
Collaborative and open to development notes
Preferred
Festival short film experience
Screenwriting competition recognition
Experience writing social thrillers, investigative dramas, or character‑focused stories
Familiarity with Sacramento or Northern California communities is a plus
WGA and non‑WGA writers are welcome to apply.
