We are always working to make our Company a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place to work.About the JobSeasonal Tailor/Alterations Staff are responsible for performing and completing tailor/alterations from made-to-measure and ready-to-wear garments. This includes organizing work load; carry out all tailoring/alterations according to the fitter's specifications.What You'll DoKey accountabilities include:Following required tailoring/alteration processes and instructions based on picking ticket commentsMeasuring and marking tailoring/alteration linesPinning altering folds or marks on cloth at seams, darts, or necklines to indicate tailoring/alterations to be madeShortening or lengthening garment parts, such as sleeves or legs as requiredExpanding or narrowing garment parts, such as waist or chest as neededRaising or lowering garment parts, such as collars or lapels as neededRelocating or replacing buttons on coats, vests and shirtsRe-sewing garment, using needle and thread or sewing machineTrimming excess material, using scissorsRemoving stitches from garment, using ripper or razor bladePressing garment, using hand iron or pressing machine as neededMaintaining a clean and safe work environmentMaintaining sewing machines in good working orderSkills & ExperienceRequired skills and experience include:Previous experience in tailoring/alterationsGood hand/eye coordination and manual dexterityGood physical and mental stamina to perform tasks for a long period of timeWorking knowledge of industrial Blind Stitch and Sleeve feller sewing machines. Ability to sew by hand as requiredWorking knowledge of operating a utility press & spotting board tableThe ability to read and understand picking ticketsWorking knowledge of radio frequency (RF) scanner is a plusBasic math, counting, and problem solving skillsGood communication skills and good command of the English language (speak, read, write, and understand English for purposes of performing necessary job duties)Demonstrate a sense of urgency to meet customer time commitmentsAbility to take initiative and work independently or with team members to accomplish defined goals in a fast-paced distribution warehouse environmentAbility to learn new skills and take on additional job responsibilities as neededFlexibility to work in all areas of production and able to work any shift during peak season is requiredWork Environment, Physical & Mental DemandsContinuously standing, walking, sitting, reaching and working overhead, climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, and crawling. Frequent use of hands and fingers for grasping, reaching, pulling, and pushing. Frequent use of ladders and/or lift equipment. Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more. This position is in a warehouse setting environment and physical requirements include but may not be limited to good hand/eye coordination, continuous walking, standing, stooping, bending, reaching overhead and repetitive lifting up to 50 lbs. for long periods of time.
