Secretary I TransportationThe person in this position is responsible for performing a wide variety of secretarial functions and assisting with the coordination and scheduling of various transportation related programs as directed by the Director of Purchasing & Logistics and Assistant Manager of Transportation.The Transportation Office is a complex work environment. There is a large volume of personnel, phone and radio traffic dealing with moment by moment changes, and high incident rescheduling. Decisions have broad impact for large numbers of people. The person in this position must be capable of keeping the transportation system functional for short periods of time in the absence of the Director of Purchasing & Logistics and/or the Assistant Manager.QualificationsAssociate's degree or equivalent work experienceMinimum of two years' experience where qualifications and responsibilities were comparableEssential FunctionsAbility to answer a variety of incoming calls, listen empathetically, problem solve, demonstrate caring and understanding to the caller and occasionally redirect the caller, if appropriate.Responsible for daily transportation's payroll using Kronos software systemDriver/Student Management with the ODE of Certification, BCII, Training, Hiring, Traffic Accident, and Student RidershipAssist with Coordinating AM/Midday/PM Assignments, Work Studies, Community Trips, IEP Meetings and Home VisitsCoordinate Professional Development Van Driver TrainingAssists with imputing and processing of driver routes, middays and field trips assignmentsMaintains driver attendance records and leave requests for preparation of payroll & deviation sheetsAbility to utilize dispatcher console radio communicationsAssist/Prepares driver and student rosters, route sheets, driver requests, forms, etc.Ability to utilize multiple software platformsKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesProven skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)Proven skills in Google DocsAbility to anticipate and project needs, time frames, and necessary action for planned or routine mattersHuman relations skills; ability to relate to a wide range of people and problems calmly and in an assured mannerWorking knowledge of the geographical areas of the school district and various attendance boundariesAbility to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writingAccounting and record keeping skillsKnowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipmentOperate computer, copier, and printerMaturity, composure, warmth, stability, high energy level and the ability to work independently to organize work schedules, set priorities and coordinate the flow of work through the officeWork calendar, salary, and benefits established by Board of EducationPerformance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board of Education Policy on Evaluation of Professional PersonnelThis job description is subject to change and in no manner states or implies that these are the only duties and responsibilities to be performed by the employee.
