Job description
Security AssistantProvide for the safety of all students, faculty, and staff and the security of all high school campus property and equipment. Assist the Principal, Director of Operations, and Security Officer in the development and implementation of procedures that will ensure the protection of all school personnel and property. This is an unarmed position in accordance with district policy DH Local.QualificationsEducation/Certification:High School Diploma or GED (preferred)Valid Texas driver's licenseSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Ability to clearly and accurately record informationAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to work effectively with youths and adultsAbility to communicate effectivelyStrong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skillsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesStudent Management:Patrol assigned routes walking or driving around buildings and grounds to assist in preventing or deterring theft, vandalism and unauthorized entries.Monitor hallways and other areas of the campus, as assigned.Enforce district rules and regulations.Assist in resolving conflict or confrontation between students and report concerns to the administrative team.Security and Parking:Assist with traffic control and parking on campus grounds during school hours, as assigned.Inspect and secure doors, windows, lights and gates, as assigned.Respond and report concerns or problems on the campus to an administrator or designee.Notify the campus administrator or designee of any situation requiring immediate or prompt attention.Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Complete duties and responsibilities as assigned by the campus principal or designee.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsTools/Equipment Used: District vehicle (if assigned), two-way radio, standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Prolonged standing and sittingMotion: Strenuous walking and climbing stairs; occasional keyboarding and use of a mouse, moderate driving possibleLifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 pounds)Environment: Work inside and outside (moderate exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); moderate exposure to noise and vehicle exhaust; frequent districtwide travel.
