Job description
Job TitleServes dual role as first responder/EMT and security officer, promoting the health, welfare and safety of residents and associates on the Village campus.Responsibilities include responding to on-campus emergencies, medical and non-medical calls for assistance, and reinforcing an overall sense of safety on campus. Supportive of the Village's mission, values, and service/hospitality (PRIDE) expectations. Completes training hours as required by policy.Essential job functions include:Responding to emergency medical calls on campus. Determining nature and extent of illness or injury. Administering basic life support at site of emergency.Responding to non-medical emergencies such as smoke, fire, C02 alarms, water main breaks, interior flooding, etc. Assessing, investigating, resolving as appropriate.Responding to non-emergency medical calls on campus, including requests from residents who aren't feeling well, would like to be assessed, need a blood pressure check, etc. Making referrals to JKV services.Conducting wellness checks on residents as requested by staff, family and other residents.Accompanying confused residents back to their home.Responding to non-emergency, non-medical requests for assistance such as lockouts, missing items (personal items, pets), jump start cars (residents/associates), providing lift assists (VCC,VAL, Village Helpers), scam concerns, etc.Conducting driving patrols of the campus, watching for any unusual or suspicious conditions, investigating if/as necessary. Conducting walking patrols of Village buildings with emphasis towards crime prevention and regard for personal safety.Responding to after-hours maintenance and housekeeping calls from residents as well as associates. Assessing cause, severity, and solution.Responding to after-hours request for IT support. Assisting residents in resolving phone, TV and internet issues.Filling in on ambulance and/or mental health van when needed.Maintaining ongoing communication with dispatch to confirm requests are being responded to and in a timely manner per established policies and procedures.Providing traffic and parking control as needed (e.g. special events, road closures, parking lot repaving, etc.)Ensuring proper documentation for all functions including routine tracking, incident reporting, and medical calls including interviews with victims and witnesses if/as applicable.Conducting vacation checks per resident requests.Locking and unlocking 100+ doors every morning and evening per established timeframes.Collecting daily bank deposits bags from finance and other requesting departments and delivering to area banks, collecting bank bags from night deposits and returning them to the appropriate department.Collecting daily bank deposit bags from restaurant safes and delivering night deposits at area banks. (Night Shift)Conducting fire drills in all five licensed facilities each month.Adhering to all department policies, safety regulations, medical protocols and licensing requirements.Enforcing Village policies with residents, often in conjunction with the area manager.Responsible for pre-shift vehicle check and proper handling and care of assigned vehicle and communication equipment. Replenishing first-aid equipment and supplies.Handling stress well and getting along with others within the workplace and with customers outside the department.Maintaining acceptable standards of workplace conduct.The responsibilities described above represent the primary responsibilities of the job. Other responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as warranted by business needs. The incumbent is expected to perform all assigned responsibilities.Essential qualifications include:Education: This position requires the level of education typically acquired by a course of study leading to a high school diploma or GED.Licenses/Certifications: Missouri State EMT-B Certification required. Missouri Class E driver's license or equivalent required. CPR Certification required.Knowledge and Skills (required unless otherwise noted): Basic level keyboarding skills required. Must maintain CEU hours required by current EMT and CPR certifications. Experience with investigations of incidents and conflicts. Experience using an oxygen tank, airways, suction equipment, respirator and heart monitor. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, handbooks and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other associates of the organization. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Excellent customer service skills.Special working conditions include:Subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions. Subject to extreme cold temperatures typically below 32 degrees and extreme heat above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.Subject to sufficient noise to cause the associate to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.Subject to hazards such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.Subject to atmospheric conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: Fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.Subject to air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.Exposed to infectious diseases.Required to function around individuals with challenged mental capacities.All associates may be called upon to assist other departments in a declared emergency situationPhysical and mental demands include:Heavy Work – Exerting up to 100 lbs of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs of force frequently, and/or up to 20lbs of force constantly to move objects.Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing or crouching on narrow, slippery or erratically moving surfaces.May need to stoop/bend, kneel, crawl, reach.Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.May need to push, pull, lift with regular or repetitive motion.May need to pick up, pinch, type with fingers, grasp with fingers and palm.May need to feel attributes of an object such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.Supervision received: Supervision from Public Safety Manager.
