Job description

At Part3, we’re passionate about completely reshaping the payments industry. For many larger businesses, payment fees are among their single largest expenses. They spend millions just to accept payments, suffer from fraud, and gain zero competitive advantage. We help them by providing a payment method that dramatically reduces their costs, fraud, and overhead. As a merchant, getting paid should be simple and secure.

The engineering team brings the mission of Part3 to life. To achieve that mission, Engineers are involved in all stages of the product development and deployment lifecycle: idea generation, user interviews, planning, design, prototyping, execution, shipping, and iteration. Engineers work on projects that span technologies, systems, and processes where new code is designed, tested, and shipped every day.

Security Engineers drive the technical vision for how Part3 provides a secure payment experience for merchants and shoppers. Motivated by the mission to reshape a massive industry, Security Engineers work on everything from core financial APIs to data analysis and fraud modelling.

You will:

Be a leader of strategy and planning. Set vision and direction for Part3’s approach to software security.

Technically define world-class security. Scope and lead large technical projects with enormous impact across many teams.

Identify security anti-patterns. Reason clearly about the technology and architecture choices we make in building Security at Part3.

Directly contribute to core interface design and write code.

Advise the broader Part3 team on key technical considerations related to the future of payments security.

Arbitrate critical decisions correctly considering software best practices, system realities, and numerous stakeholders’ concerns.

Own metrics and goals.

Autonomously choose to work on problems which bring high leverage.

Qualifications

This role may be a fit for you if:

You have a strong technical background, including 5+ years of experience with software engineering and software security.

You have domain expertise in the fraud and/or financial risk space.

You correctly prioritize the largest opportunities to reduce risk.

You foresee failure modes and champion security models that are durable in terms of future scale, reliability and security needs.

You listen well and internalize the best ideas from all over the organization while also setting a vision that others are excited to get behind.

You work well cross-functionally and your co-workers at all levels and across all teams trust you.

You have experience and a passion in applying machine learning to real-world problems.

You have successfully recruited and built great teammates.

You thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility.

Additional Information

This role may be remote or at our Boston HQ.
