Security GuardTHIS JOB DESCRIPTION IS A GUIDELINE AND IS NOT INCLUSIVE OF ALL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESQualifications: High School Diploma with 2 years of college preferred;Must be a current or retired Law Enforcement Officer in good standing;Minimum of two years successful experience as a Law Enforcement Officer;Good knowledge of law enforcement practices and procedures;Such alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.Reports To: Directors, Building Admin and/or District Security Coordinators.Location: Various D89 School Locations Based on Need.Terms of Employment: 10-month position – Hours and Hourly rate TBD by the Board of Education*Job Summary: The Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves monitoring school grounds, enforcing security protocols, and responding to incidents, ensuring a positive and secure educational experience for all.Duties and Monitor and screen all visitors entering the building, ensuring they sign in and receive a visitor's pass.Regularly check all doors to ensure they are securely locked.Conduct periodic inspections of the playground and school premises.Patrol the building as directed to ensure a secure environment.Assist in resolving conflicts involving students, staff, parents or visitors.Maintain the confidentiality of student and staff information.Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principal.Essential Functions: Communicate clearly and effectively.Maintain physical capability to stand, walk, run and climb stairs as needed.Maintain visual and auditory awareness of all areas under supervision.Ability to meet daily attendance requirementsEvaluation: Performance in this position will be evaluated by the Principal or Assistant Principal, District Business Manager and Security Coordinator.
