Security Guard IThe Security Guard I is responsible for supporting basic security operations to protect personnel, assets, and property at assigned locations. Working under close supervision, this position assists with site monitoring, access control, and visitor screening to ensure a safe environment for employees and guests.QualificationsNecessary Skills And KnowledgeGood customer service skillsStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsBasic report writing and record-keeping skillsDemonstrated reliability and professionalismAbility to remain calm under pressureMinimum Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)High School Diploma or GEDMust be at least 21 years of ageAt least 6 months of experience in customer service or public interactionMilitary service in a related field may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basisEligible for State of Alaska Security Guard licenseAbility to pass a background check and drug screeningValid Driver's License required and clean recordObtain CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of hirePreferred Qualifications (Education, Experience, Skills)Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferredResponsibilitiesEssential Job FunctionsMonitors and controls access to assigned areas; checks identification and visitor credentialsCompletes visitor and contractor check-ins for transport to designated sitesConducts visual inspections of bags, totes, and personal belongings for prohibited itemsObserves and reports suspicious behavior, safety issues, or policy violationsAssists in maintaining order during incidents or emergencies under direction from supervisorsProvides directions and general assistance to visitors and staffCompletes basic logs and incident reports accurately and promptlyPerforms foot patrols as assigned to monitor and secure facilitiesSupports other security personnel as directedMay be required to work on-call or call-back hours
