Job description

Security Guard- Level III CertificationUnder direct supervision from the Beaumont ISD police department, provide security and protection for students, campus personnel, patrons, and district property.Qualifications:Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GEDLevel 3-Armed Security Officer LicenseMust pass a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) psychological examinationMust complete and pass a Physical Agility TestExperience as a security guard, preferredTexas Driver LicenseMust not have a history of criminal activityAbility to record informationAbility to follow verbal and written instructionAbility to work effectively with studentsAbility to communicate effectivelyWorking knowledge of personal and property security techniques and electronic security systemsPossess the sensitivity and maturity to work effectively with studentsMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Safety and SecurityServe as a security resource to students and campus personnel during the instructional school dayServe as a security resource to students, campus personnel and community during non-instructional day events specific to assigned campusEstablish and maintain an ongoing working relationship with faculty and law enforcement personnel serving the school communityAssist campus administration in implementing the Campus Emergency Plan, in collaboration with the District Emergency Operations PlanAssist campus administration and staff in the application and execution of all district safety protocols and guidelinesEnsure the security of the assigned campus/facility by conducting random and frequent perimeter checksIdentify unauthorized persons who come within the boundaries of the campus and verify their authorityReport all criminal offenses, originating on assigned campuses, to the district's police departmentPrepare and file all appropriate reportsAppear in court and/or hearings as a witness or complainant when appropriateProvide a general and consistent adult presence at critical locations during school related eventsProvide a random security patrol on assigned campusRespond to calls for service while on regular or call-out dutyCoordinate security services with Beaumont ISD police personnelProvide appropriate assistance during disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, etc. (where Beaumont ISD personnel are required)Inform the Chief of Police of all conditions that effect safety and security of students, staff, and district propertyEquipment Used: Two-way radio, CCTV, personal computer, alarm systems, and lethal and less lethal weapons, firearms, handcuffsWorking Conditions:Mental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stressPhysical Demands: Ability to control sudden violent or extreme physical acts of others and exhibit rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously; may be subject to adverse and hazardous working conditions, including violent confrontationsEnvironmental Demands: Work indoors and outdoors in varying climate conditions; and may be exposed to vehicle exhaustThe Beaumont Independent School District does not discriminate on the basis of age, color, disability, national origin, race, religion, or sex in the educational programs or activities that it operates and is an equal opportunity employer.
