St. Mary's Healthcare has also been named a 2026 Times Union Top Workplace—the first acute care hospital in the Capital Region to earn the distinction since the Times Union launched the recognition program 15 years ago.Employment Type: Full TimeShift: RotatingHours Per Week: 40Location: Main campusHiring range: $21.00-$26.25The actual compensation for this position will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.Responsibilities:Performs proactive monitoring of and timely responses to potential/actual security threats.Investigates, documents, and manages security incidents and hazards.Maintains knowledge/follows policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency/disaster preparedness plans. May facilitate planned drills and simulations.Trains and mentors' staff on environment of care and emergency management processes and procedures. Provides information and assistance to staff and visitors to promote safety.Provides for traffic and parking enforcement within campus area and participates in foot and vehicle patrols.Reports potential problems or equipment malfunction to appropriate personnel.Operates vehicle in a safe and responsible manner to avoid accidents and traffic or parking violations.Front Reception DeskResponsible for greeting all visitors and assisting them with check-in, appointment verification and directions as needed.Responsible for assisting with incoming phone calls.Operates hospital security camera system, assisting department as needed.Complexity of Work:Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment. Must be able to speak, read, write and follow instructions in English.Personal Protective Equipment:Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.Minimum Qualifications Licensure / Certification / Registration:Preferred Credential(s):Driver's License credentialed from the New York Bureau of Motor Vehicles obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.Security Guard credentialed from the New York Department of State obtained within 90 days of hire or transfer.Preferred Credential(s): • BLS Provider. • Law Enforcement. • Management of Aggressive Behavior credentialed from the Management of Aggressive Behavior Training International, Inc.Education:High school diploma or GED or three (3) years of relevant experience required, In addition to certificationRequired Skills and Attributes:Ability to organize and establish day-to-day priorities while using critical thinking skills in all aspects of the job.Must be able to multitask while remaining professional, focused, composed and positive.Excellent customer service skillsDisplays integrity, friendliness, and compassion.Must be able to establish an appropriate and effective rapport with others.Demonstrates flexibilityTakes initiativeAble to work in a fast-paced environmentEmbraces new opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.Effective critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Proficient with various Microsoft Office products (Word and Excel).Strong organizational skills.Effective interpersonal skills.Ability to take and follow direction in a positive and appropriate manner.Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
