BenefittedJob Description: The full-time Security Officer will maintain a safe and secure learning and working environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at PVCC. Monitor and make rounds to ensure the safety and security of PVCC community members and facilities. Officers must be accountable for their actions and dependable in their attendance and should demonstrate these characteristics through their dutiful attendance of all scheduled shifts and appointments. Officers also must be available for contact during emergency situations.Responsibilities:Lock and unlock College buildings, doors, and classroomsProvide visitors and College community members with information and directions to campus buildings, classrooms, and off-campus areasNotify campus police of suspicious persons, activities or safety hazards found during tour of dutyMaintain accurate records and logs of activityOperate security & state vehiclesRespond to complaints and make preliminary investigations.Create student & staff ID's, process student & staff parking decal requestsAnswer alarms and disturbances, contact police, fire, & rescue in case of an emergency, and follow established College emergency procedures.Patrol among visitors and College community members to preserve order and protect property.Answer phones, emails, and other forms of communication in a professional manner.Patrol parking lots and issue warnings to persons with rule infractions and utilize the ticketing system for parking violations.Provide escort, via provided campus vehicles, to individuals to a specified location or to provide personal protection.Provide limited assistance when individuals are experiencing motor vehicle issues.Monitor and check fire & safety devices. High school graduate or equivalent.Three years of post-high school experience. Have a valid driver's license and good driving history.Successfully pass a background check, including criminal history and driving history.Have and or be able to obtain and maintain CPR/AED / First Aid, Naloxone (Narcan), and Campus Security Officer certification.
