Security Officer - Part-time WeekendsPosition InformationJob Title - Security Officer - Part-time WeekendsPosition Number - Department - Safety & Security - Joliet, ILJob Grade - 5Anticipated Salary Range - $15.02-$16.52/hrBenefits - Not benefit eligiblePosition Summary - To provide safety and security services for the protection of life and property to the university community.Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Patrol assigned areas (university buildings, dormitories, parking lots) on foot or in a vehicle to ensure security, and to make presence known in a manner that contributes to the deterrence of security breachesProvide escort services for visitors, students, staff, faculty, and individuals responsible for transportation of moneys to or from universityPrepare written and computerized reports of daily activity and incidents occurring in, on or around campus propertyProvide visible patrol and observe and report irregularities, such as fire hazards, leaking water pipes, missing signs, deficient parking lot surface conditions, and security doors left unlocked; sound alarm in case of fire or presence of unauthorized personsPerform periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or streetlights to ensure proper functioning; report malfunctionsProvide visible patrol and examine doors, windows, and gates to determine if they are secureDrive university vehicles, providing for the safe and efficient transportation to the university community and visitorsProvide public assistance when requested, including lockout services and informationPerform other duties or assignments as required•Participate in and promote a culture of continuing quality improvementMinimum Requirements - 21 years of ageHigh school diploma orGEDPossess a valid Illinois driver's licenseProvision of a clear background checkAbility to perform physical requirements of the positionAbility to read, analyze and interpret instructionsAbility to understand and adhere to all Safety and Security rules, regulations, policy and procedures, written memorandums, and verbal instructions issued by the director or his designeeAbility to communicate effectively both orally and in writingAbility to apply firm and courteous instructions with the students, employees and visitorsAbility to analyze situations quickly and objectively take the appropriate course of actionAbility to establish and maintain cordial and effective working relationships with the university communityAbility to gather data, compile information and prepare reports.Availability to work a varied work schedule encompassing all shiftsWillingness to support the Catholic and Franciscan values of the universityPreferred RequirementsHours/Shift/Work Schedule - Saturday and SundayPhysical Requirements of Position - This position requires to ability to walk, sit or stand for extended periods of time, run when necessary, climb stairs, lift up to 50 lbs. with no assistance, and to work in adverse weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment may sometimes be loud. Some work may be performed on a computer in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards.
