Job description
Security OfficerWe are seeking a part-time Security Officer to help maintain order and a safe environment on College property, prevent loss and damage, secure buildings and facilities, enforce College policy and regulations, and assist students, faculty, and staff with security concerns. The Security Officer also fosters positive relations with students, staff, and members of the community by providing information, assistance, and advice as appropriate.This is a hourly, part-time position. The shift hours for the position may vary.Example of Duties:Patrol areas and staff posts to maintain order and securityGreet students, staff, and members of the community; represent the College in a positive mannerReport accidents, security incidents, and criminal activity; prepare and file written reportsCheck the identification of persons on College propertyAssist in the orderly evacuation of persons in the event of a fire alarm or other emergencyDirect traffic and monitor parking lotsDeliver and pick up packages or passengers, as assignedRespond to emergencies in accordance with Security Department proceduresAccompany students, faculty, and staff to their vehicles, as assignedOperate ID imaging and database equipment, and security communications equipment, as assignedPerform other related duties, as assignedQualifications:A high school diploma or GED is requiredSome related work or military experience requiredA valid driver's license is requiredThe completion of a background check will be required for the selected candidate.Compensation: Compensation is determined by a variety of criteria, including but not limited to, previous relevant experience, education level, and certifications. The minimum hourly pay for this position is $16.Benefits:New Jersey Sick Leave: Earn 1 hour of sick leave for every 30 hours worked with a maximum of 40 hours of leave per benefit year.
