Security OfficerWe provide high quality services from skilled nursing and restorative care to housing, assisted living and community-based wellness programs. Inspired Every Day.Pay: Starting Rate $17.65 per hour. Additional shift differentials are offered for: Evenings and Nights $2.50 - $4.00 additional per hour. Schedule: Nights - 15.0 hours a week 8pm-12am Every Friday and Saturday. The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of the staff, residents and visitors of the Episcopal Church Home and/or River Edge Manor.Essential Job Functions:Will report to off going shift for a status report regarding the building and its occupants.Greet and assist all incoming visitors, staff and residents in a professional and friendly mannerProvide excellent customer serviceRelieve reception and answer and direct all incoming calls in a professional and friendly mannerUse overhead paging system as requiredCarry and answer all calls and texts on facility issued cell phone in a professional and friendly mannerSecures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points; permitting entryDaily activity is recorded electronically for each shiftUse security cameras to assist in overall security of facilityWhile not performing other security duties will be stationed at the security desk to monitor traffic in and out of the building and monitor security camerasPresent outside at shift changes to monitor traffic in and out of the building and parking lot and ensure the safety of staffImmediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and customersProvide access to areas for staff, residents, families, vendors, and contractors upon request.Open dock doors as needed for movement of furniture and suppliesPerform investigations as neededPerform or assist with fire drills and other safety functionsRespond to fire and other emergencies and follow department proceduresAssist with coverage for security call-ins and vacationMonitor for the need of snow removal and slippery conditions and notify contractor as neededAssign lockers to staff as neededConduct security inspections as indicated. Such as fire extinguishers, doors, eye wash stations, fire doors elevators and emergency lightingRaise/lower the flagTake and download resident picture upon admissionComplete Resident Admission Inventory within 48 hours of admission. Scan and save on computerDeliver medical equipment, supplies, newspapers, flowers, linen, 02 tanks etc., as requestedDeliver weekly supplies to nursing unitsInspect windows and doors to ensure locks are in place and workingProvide escort of staff to their respective vehicles as requestedEnsure all exterior doors are locked and secureCompletes reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities; interviewing witnesses; obtaining signatures. Investigate thefts and file police reports. Report and document rule infractions and violationsRegulate and monitor building systems and notify maintenance on-call for any building needsTrouble shoot and perform light maintenance duties such as, resident call light system, light bulbs, TV hookups and remotes, HVAC: etcPlace maintenance and IT work orders in computerized systemsRemain stationed at front desk, answering telephone and monitoring traffic in and out of the building until relievedConduct walk-in potential admission tours as necessaryCheck purses, pockets, and bags for suspicious items upon requestAttend all departmental meetings and in-services and facility required in-servicesWear departmental uniform on a daily basis.Keep New York State certification updated.Perform the above-mentioned responsibilities and standards that pertain to River Edge Manor Below are unique standards for River Edge ManorWill assist in monitoring the physical conditions of residents as necessaryDeliver Saturday morning newspapers to residents' roomsAssist in maintaining the environmental needs of the building as necessaryWill use security cameras to assist in overall security of facility.Respond to both medical(R-care) and fire alarms at River Edge Manor and notify REM Executive DirectorRequirements:Qualifications:Ability to function with minimal supervision. Be of good physical and mental health.Ability to cope with stressful situations. Must possess valid New York State security guard license.Education:Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma.Experience:One to two years' experience in the security field, New York State registered required.Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
