Senior Accountant – Real Estate & Construction
Compensation: $90,000 – $130,000 + 10-15% discretionary bonus
Location: Everett
Reports To: Controller
Work Environment: Hybrid

About the Role
A privately held real estate development and construction organization is looking to add a Senior Accountant to its accounting team. The company is involved in the development, construction, and operation of multifamily real estate assets, with a portfolio spanning multiple markets.
This role will have significant ownership over property accounting, construction draws, monthly close, and multi-entity accounting . The Senior Accountant will work closely with the Controller, construction and project teams, lenders, investment partners, and third-party property managers to ensure financial activity is accurately recorded and reporting deadlines are consistently met.
The ideal candidate will bring strong Yardi Voyager and property accounting experience , along with a background in real estate development, construction, or both.
Key Responsibilities
Construction & Project Accounting
Prepare and submit construction lender draws, including G702/G703 forms, supporting documentation, lien releases, retainage, and change orders.
Prepare capital partner funding requests and general contractor pay applications across multiple active projects.
Bill construction and development fees to project entities and outside owners.
Prepare applicable state construction sales and use tax filings.
Multi-Entity Accounting & Month-End Close
Manage monthly close for development, construction, land, and project entities.
Prepare accruals, intercompany transactions, fixed asset entries, payroll journals, interest calculations, and other month-end adjustments.
Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules for review by the Controller.
Assist with forecasting by loading actual financial results and maintaining accurate entity-level reporting.
Prepare development and asset management fee invoices.
Property Accounting
Collect and review monthly financial information from third-party property managers.
Assemble monthly financial packages for operating properties.
Reconcile property reserves and escrow accounts.
Calculate and support property distributions.
Ensure property-level financial activity is accurately reflected in the company's books.
Real Estate Transactions
Record accounting activity related to land acquisitions, loan closings, refinances, and property dispositions.
Track pre-development and pursuit-related costs.
Support project closeout and final cost certification when properties are completed and placed into service.
Tax & Audit
Prepare Washington B&O and excise tax filings.
Prepare year-end schedules and supporting documentation for outside CPA and audit/tax partners.
Assist with other tax, audit, and financial reporting requests as needed.
What Success Looks Like
Construction draws and funding requests are complete, accurate, and submitted according to lender and partner deadlines.
Monthly property and entity reporting is delivered on schedule.
Reconciliations are completed monthly and outstanding items are resolved promptly.
Potential issues are identified and communicated to the Controller before they become deadline or reporting problems.
The accounting function operates with strong organization, accuracy, and accountability.
Qualifications
5+ years of accounting experience within real estate development, property accounting, construction, or a related environment.
Yardi Voyager experience is required.
Direct property accounting experience is required.
At least 2 years of experience preparing construction draws, lender funding requests, or capital partner funding packages.
Experience with G702/G703 pay applications, retainage, lien releases, and lender draw documentation.
Strong understanding of multi-entity accounting and intercompany transactions.
Knowledge of GAAP accounting as it applies to real estate development, including WIP, capitalized interest, and placed-in-service accounting.
Experience working with third-party property management companies and lenders.
Strong Excel skills.
Procore or similar construction/project management software experience is a plus.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. xhqgsiq
