Job description
Senior Accountant
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our client’s team in Houston, TX. This company is moving into a new office in Clear Lake by NASA Space Center (soon). This is a hybrid opportunity, full comp package included.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for performing various accounting functions, including general ledger analysis, project accounting and controlling, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing strong internal control processes and ensuring adherence to internal controls. This position will also assist in tightly scheduled monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
Overall:
Conduct balance sheet and income statement analysis to ensure accuracy
Ensure adherence to internal controls and recommend improvements where necessary
Perform project accounting controlling and analysis, monitor project financials, and provide insights
Manage the controlling of assets under construction and fixed assets
Handle fast close month-end duties to ensure data accuracy and completeness
Prepare financial reports for management and stakeholders
Prepare audit schedules and assist with audit processes
Assist with budget preparation and forecasting activities
Support property tax valuations and related accounting tasks
Manage accounting for income taxes in compliance with applicable regulations
Take on special projects as assigned
General Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and 8 or more years of relevant accounting experience
Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, and experience communicating with various departments
Proficient knowledge of International Accounting Standards (IAS)
Experience with SAP (General Ledger, Controlling, Project System, Sales, and Purchasing Modules) is strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications required
Public accounting experience is a plus
