Job Summary:
nAt WM, the Senior Accountant or Junior Controller is a senior level role accountable for full cycle accounting within a complex corporate environment. This position requires an experienced accounting professional with strong general ledger ownership and month end close expertise.
nWhat You Will Do
nnnOwn full cycle accounting activities including general ledger , journal entries , accruals , and month end close
n
nnPrepare financial statements , perform variance analysis , and analyze complex financial data
n
nnEnsure compliance with US GAAP and maintain effective internal controls
n
nnPartner with finance and business stakeholders while operating independently in a fast-paced environment
n
n nWhat You Will Bring
nnnBachelor's Degree (accredited) in Accounting or similar
n
nn5 years of accounting experience , including 3 years in a mid to senior level accounting role
n
nnRequired experience in a mid-to-large company
n
nnDirect ownership of full cycle accounting and corporate financial reporting
n
nnStrong analytical and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail
n
n nThis is a hybrid role with time allocated within a WM Office environment and a remote office environment.
nII. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
nnnPrepares highly complex journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit train support for the journal entries.
n
nnAnalyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals.
n
nnCollects and analyzes financial data and prepares monthly combined financial statements and reports. Performs additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statement. Coordinates preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy.

nnParticipates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
n
nnAssists with the preparation of year-end closings. Prepares annual long-term and short-term financial statements in compliance with accounting guidelines and U.S. GAAP. Assists in the preparation of working papers for annual audit.
n
nnProvides expertise and guidance to other Finance personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application.
n
nnAssists with the preparation of annual budgets, updates, and strategic plans for assigned areas. Coordinates preparation of monthly combining entries to combine financial results.
n
nnPrepares quarterly consolidation report for consolidation.
n
nnAssists with the maintenance and application of internal controls.
n
nnPrepares highly advanced financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.

nnAssists departmental managers/directors with supervision of other clerical and professional staff of the department as required.

nnnBachelor's Degree (accredited) in Accounting

nnHigh School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant experience
n
nn5 years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement)

nPAY : The expected base pay range for this hybrid position is $100,000 - $110,000 . This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for incentive pay.
