nPurpose
nThe Accountant III is responsible for the accurate and timely recording, analysis, reconciliation, and reporting of financial information for Liberty Utilities. Reporting to the Accounting Manager or Senior Manager, this role supports month-end and year-end close activities, financial reporting, account reconciliations, regulatory reporting requirements, audit support, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
nThe Accountant III works collaboratively with operations, regulatory, customer service, procurement, FP&A, and other finance teams to ensure financial integrity, compliance with accounting standards, and efficient execution of accounting processes.

nAccountabilities
nnnPrepare and post journal entries in accordance with established closing schedules.
n
nnPerform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
n
nnPrepare and analyze monthly financial reports and supporting schedules.
n
nnInvestigate and explain financial variances and unusual account activity.
n
nnSupport financial statement preparation and related disclosures
n
nnPrepare balance sheet and general ledger account reconciliations.
n
nnMonitor and resolve outstanding accounting issues and aged balances.
n
nnEnsure accuracy and completeness of financial records.
n
nnSupport compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and company policies, as applicable.
n
nnMaintain appropriate documentation to support accounting positions and financial results.
n
nnProvide accounting guidance and support to operational and corporate departments.
n
nnAssist business partners with expense coding and accounting treatment questions.
n
nnSupport budgeting, forecasting, and ad hoc financial analysis activities.
n
nnPrepare audit schedules and supporting documentation.
n
nnCoordinate responses to internal and external audit requests.
n
nnAssist with the implementation of audit recommendations and control enhancements.
n
nnIdentify opportunities to streamline processes and improve reporting efficiency.
n
nnSupport automation initiatives and accounting system enhancements.
n
nnParticipate in special projects and finance transformation initiatives.
n
n nEducation and Experience
nnnUniversity - Bachelor degree or equivalent
n
nnUtility, energy, or regulated industry experience considered an asset.
n
nnExperience with SAP systems preferred.
n
nnStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
n
nnStrong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
n
nnExperience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
n
nnExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
n
nnAbility to identify trends, variances, and financial irregularities.
n
nnStrong organizational and time-management capabilities.
n
nnAbility to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

n nCompensation Data
nFull base salary range $85,000.00- $115,000.00 per year *Liberty considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, education, training and skills, and geographic location.
