Senior Applied AI Engineer
$220,000 - $300,000 Base Salary + Equity
A high-growth, venture-backed software company is hiring a Senior Applied AI Engineer to help build the intelligence layer behind its platform. This is an opportunity to work on the cutting edge of LLMs, AI agents, retrieval systems, recommendation engines, and applied machine learning , developing products that directly influence customer decisions and business outcomes at scale.
You'll join a highly technical engineering team responsible for transforming large volumes of operational and transactional data into intelligent recommendations, automated workflows, and AI-powered experiences used by thousands of customers.
What You'll Be Doing
Design, build, and deploy production AI applications powered by LLMs, agents, and machine learning models
Develop intelligent systems for recommendation, retrieval, ranking, and decision automation
Build document understanding and information extraction workflows using modern AI techniques
Create agentic workflows that automate complex customer and operational processes
Develop evaluation frameworks, observability tooling, and experimentation systems to measure model quality and business impact
Own the full AI lifecycle from research and prototyping through production deployment and continuous optimization
Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and customers to identify high-impact AI opportunities
Stay current on emerging advancements in AI, machine learning, agent frameworks, and LLM technologies

What They're Looking For
5+ years of experience building and shipping AI, machine learning, or data-driven products
Strong software engineering skills with Python and/or TypeScript
Experience developing LLM-powered applications, AI agents, retrieval systems, recommendation engines, or similar AI products
Strong understanding of experimentation, evaluation, monitoring, and production AI systems
Ability to independently solve complex technical challenges and drive projects from idea to launch
Strong communication skills and experience working cross-functionally
BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience)
Nice to Have
Experience building agentic workflows or AI-powered automation platforms
Experience with RAG, embeddings, vector databases, ranking, or personalization systems
Familiarity with LLM observability, evaluation, or monitoring frameworks
Experience with modern cloud infrastructure and scalable distributed systems
Background in commerce, analytics, forecasting, pricing, or operational intelligence products
Compensation & Benefits
$220,000 - $300,000 base salary
