Job description
Planate Management Group (PMG) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) headquartered in Alexandria, Virginia, and Orlando, Florida USA with a technical support center in South East Asia and East Africa, that provides program management and facilities engineering services worldwide. Planate is a small business provider of planning, design, infrastructure management, technical consulting, engineering, and construction management services in support of the US Department of Defense (DOD) and its Service (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps) missions, along with other US federal agencies, all over the world.
We are looking for a licensed professional Architect to lead the design and construction oversight for the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center (VAMC), Chicago, IL Electronic Health Record Modernization (EHRM) Infrastructure Upgrade project. As an Architect, you will ensure that construction activities comply with VA standards, federal and state codes, and project requirements, while supporting quality assurance, cost control, and schedule management.
This position is contingent upon the award of the contract with the proposal submission due on January 20, 2026.
Project duration: one year plus two option years
Key Responsibilities:
Review and interpret construction contract documents, drawings, and specifications.
Perform constructability reviews and assess impacts on hospital operations.
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and change orders; provide recommendations to the COR.
Conduct inspections for quality, safety, and contract compliance.
Provide guidance on design modifications, value engineering, and long-lead items.
Attend weekly/monthly progress meetings and prepare project status reports.
Supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary personnel as needed
Qualifications to be successful in the role:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
Must be a Registered Architect (RA)
Minimum 10 years of combined design and construction experience in active medical facilities.
Experience with VA Design Manuals, Specifications, and TIL.
Knowledge of construction contract documents, building codes, budgeting, and scheduling.
Proven ability to supervise and manage personnel across disciplines.
