Senior BAS Project Engineer
Building Automation Systems | HVAC Controls | System Design & Project Delivery
Location: Little Rock, Arkansas
Summary: We are seeking a Senior BAS Project Engineer to join a growing team specializing in building automation, HVAC controls, and energy-efficient facility solutions. This role is ideal for a technically minded professional who enjoys designing control systems, solving complex building challenges, and collaborating with both customers and field teams to deliver successful projects.
As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for developing control system designs, creating project documentation, supporting field implementation, and ensuring building automation systems operate as intended. You'll work on a diverse portfolio of commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, and critical-environment projects while helping deliver intelligent, high-performance building solutions.
What You'll Do
Design and engineer Building Automation Systems (BAS/DCC) for new construction and retrofit projects
Develop sequences of operation, control strategies, and system architectures based on project requirements
Create control drawings, submittals, installation packages, and as-built documentation
Generate bills of material and assist with equipment and controls selection
Review mechanical and electrical plans to ensure proper integration of control systems
Provide technical guidance and engineering support to project managers, programmers, and field technicians
Assist with system startup, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance verification when needed
Review equipment submittals and coordinate controls integration with HVAC and mechanical systems
Support project procurement activities and coordinate with vendors and manufacturers
Participate in project meetings and maintain communication with customers, contractors, and internal teams
Contribute to engineering standards, best practices, and continuous process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Experience designing, engineering, or implementing Building Automation Systems (BAS/DCC)
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, controls sequences, and building operations
Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, and controls drawings
Knowledge of industry communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline
Associate degree or technical training combined with relevant controls experience will also be considered
Experience with BAS platforms such as Tridium Niagara, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Automated Logic, Alerton, Distech, or similar systems
Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office, and related engineering software
Previous experience supporting commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, or mission-critical facilities
This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites for coordination, commissioning support, and customer interaction.
