Job description

Shape next generation AI systems through expert editorial work on diverse book manuscripts. This remote contract opportunity calls on seasoned book editors to provide rigorous, real world feedback that strengthens how AI models learn, reason, and perform. No prior AI experience is required.

Role Overview You will elevate editorial standards across manuscripts, with particular relevance for editors experienced with published books, award winning titles, or bestsellers. The work emphasizes thoughtful written and verbal collaboration in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities Review, analyze, and improve manuscripts for clarity, narrative structure, voice, and market alignment.

Deliver detailed editorial feedback, advanced line editing, copyediting, and content restructuring.

Identify gaps and inconsistencies involving plot, character development, and thematic continuity.

Create editorial guidelines and best practices that inform AI model development.

Draft, revise, and polish constructive, actionable editorial commentary to high industry standards.

Communicate edits and recommendations with project stakeholders through written and verbal discussions.

Review and refine AI generated editorial work for accuracy, quality, and style.

Qualifications Extensive experience editing published books for recognized publishing houses or prominent authors.

Editorial leadership on New York Times bestsellers or award winning titles is strongly preferred.

Exceptional English language, grammar, and literary style skills.

Proven manuscript editing, line editing, copyediting, narrative structure analysis, and editorial feedback expertise.

Ability to provide nuanced feedback across genres and formats.

Strong written and verbal communication, collaboration, and quality control skills.

Comfort working remotely in a technology enabled environment and adapting to evolving project needs.

Work Terms Remote, independent contractor engagement.

US based contributors are preferred; highly qualified professionals in other locations will be considered.

Compensation $80 to $120 per hour.
