About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and innovative Senior Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Welkom . This role is central to developing detailed engineering designs for a variety of infrastructure projects, ensuring they are technically sound, cost-effective, and environmentally responsible. You will work closely with project managers and construction teams to translate conceptual designs into constructible plans. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute significantly to regional development projects while benefiting from a hybrid work environment that balances office collaboration with personal flexibility in the Free State province.
Key Responsibilities
Develop detailed engineering designs for infrastructure projects, including site grading, drainage systems, road layouts, and utility installations.
Prepare technical specifications, bill of quantities, and construction drawings using industry-standard software.
Perform engineering calculations and analysis for structural integrity, hydraulic capacity, and traffic flow.
Collaborate with senior engineers and project managers to ensure design alignment with project objectives and constraints.
Review shop drawings and respond to requests for information (RFIs) from contractors during the construction phase.
Contribute to the development of environmental impact assessments and obtain necessary permits and approvals.
Requirements
BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng) designation required.
A minimum of 7 years of experience focused on civil engineering design.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design and modeling software.
Strong knowledge of South African design standards, building codes, and environmental regulations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
