Overview
A leading medical professional liability insurance carrier is seeking an experienced Senior Claims Examiner to join its claims team. This is a remote role requiring willingness to travel and experience handling medical malpractice claims .
The Opportunity:
You will investigate, evaluate, and resolve complex medical professional liability claims, including those involving high severity and litigation. As a senior member of the claims team, you’ll partner with defense counsel, medical experts, and insured physicians while providing insights to internal stakeholders across underwriting, risk management and finance.
Key Responsibilities:
Investigate, analyze, and resolve medical malpractice claims.
Select and manage defense counsel.
Retain and consult with medical experts.
Review and analyze medical records.
Direct litigation management, including depositions, mediations, and trials.
Negotiate settlements with plaintiffs and counsel.
Provide claim status reports to reinsurers and leadership.
Collaborate cross-functionally with underwriting and other departments.
Qualifications:
7+ years in casualty claims, with at least 2–3 years in medical malpractice claims.
Strong litigation and negotiation experience.
Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
