Job description
Senior CNC Programmer MachinistJob Location: Melville, NY (100% onsite) Salary: $40.00-$55.00/hr DOEResponsibilitiesSet up and operate manual and CNC machine tools—including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, and Haas CNC machinery—to produce precision parts, tools, and fixtures from drawings, sketches, and operation sheets.Read and interpret complex blueprints and engineering documentation, applying shop mathematics and GD&T.Consistently achieve extremely tight dimensional tolerances required in military/space grade manufacturing.Determine required machinery, sequence of operations, setups, and machining strategies.Select proper cutting tools for each operation, including grinding, sharpening, and maintaining tooling.Use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and other inspection tools to verify conformance.Maintain excellent attention to detail, organization, and adherence to 5S standards to keep a clean and efficient shop environment.Monitor ongoing shop activities and identify needs for new equipment, tooling, work holding/fixturing, and process improvements.QualificationsHigh School Diploma and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or associate's degree with a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience.5+ years of experience in a machine shop environment with strong knowledge of machining practices, setups, tooling, and material characteristics (metals and plastics)Experience with Haas CNC equipmentProficiency in MasterCam and/or Fusion 360 for machining/CAM programmingExperience with Autodesk Inventor is highly desirableDemonstrated ability to hold and verify tight tolerances using precision metrology toolsStrong organization, attention to detail, and adherence to 5S/LEAN methodologiesExcellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skillsMicrosoft Office proficiencyStellaint Systems is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
