JOB DESCRIPTION
Position: Senior CNC Turning Programmer / Setup Machinist August 13, 2026
Location: McAllen, Texas
Industry: Manufacturing / Oil & Gas
Position summary
Own programming, setup, prove-out, process development, quality, troubleshooting, and training for a Mazak Slant Turn 600 heavy-duty turning center.
Compensation: $34–$39/hour;
Minimum qualifications
• 5+ years of verifiable CNC turning experience with programming, setup, troubleshooting, and operation.
• Hands-on Mazak and MAZATROL conversational programming experience; SmoothG strongly preferred.
• Working knowledge of EIA/ISO G-code editing and safe program prove-out.
• Independent setup from engineering drawing and raw material.
• Large-diameter and/or long-part turning, threading, chucking, tailstock, and steady-rest experience strongly preferred.
• Blueprint, tolerance, and precision-inspection proficiency.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
Primary responsibilities
• Create and modify MAZATROL SmoothG and EIA/ISO programs.
• Plan machining sequence, tooling, inserts, speeds/feeds, workholding, offsets, and inspection points.
• Set up, prove out, and operate turning, facing, boring, drilling, grooving, tapering, and threading processes.
• Control risk for heavy or long workpieces, including runout, clamping, support, deflection, vibration, clearance, and lifting.
• Diagnose chatter, tool wear, dimensional drift, surface finish, alarms, and process instability.
• Verify first pieces and in-process quality; maintain traceability and part data sheets.
• Create setup sheets and train the CNC Operator / Machinist.
• Support tooling selection, continuous improvement, and preventive-care routines.
Safety and physical environment
• Follow guarding, interlock, PPE, lockout/tagout, lifting, and material-handling requirements.
• Never reach into a rotating work zone, bypass safeguards, or continue through an unexplained abnormal condition.
• Use approved lifting equipment for heavy workpieces and tooling.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and perform the essential functions of the job, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

• First-pass quality and complete inspection records.
• Stable production, appropriate escalation, and care of equipment/tooling.
• Clear communication and disciplined housekeeping.
