Through centralized oversight and management of the MTA’s $6 8. 4 billion Capital Program, C&D ensures the efficient delivery of critical infrastructure projects that support the region’s vast transportation network. As part of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the largest transportation network in North America, C&D plays a key role in modernizing and expanding services that support 15.3 million residents across New York City, Long Island, southeastern New York State, and Connecticut. C&D is committed to delivering safe, innovative, and cost-effective capital projects that enhance the customer experience and strengthen the reliability and resilience of the MTA system.This position is eligible for telework, which is currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.SummaryThe Senior Code Specialist 1 ensures MTA C&D’s responsibility for compliance with the State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and State Energy Conservation Construction Code on the project level. This position ensures that an assigned project is reviewed and approved at the project's definition, design, construction, and acceptance steps for code compliance.ResponsibilitiesReviews plans and documents to ensure compliance with the State Uniform Code and Energy Code.Performs site inspections to ensure work conforms with the State Uniform Code and approved plans.Accepts, reviews, and approves review requests for construction permits and certificates of code compliance.Attends meetings and effectively communicates with project team members to ensure compliance with the Uniform Code is part of all decisions.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field with five (5) years of related experience.ORA certified Code Enforcement Official with Seven (7) years of related experience.OR Seven (7) years of experience in plan review or construction inspection.An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.Competencies:Must be a Certified Code Enforcement Official within 18 months of hire.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").Selection CriteriaBased on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.How to ApplyMTA employees must apply via My MTA Portal.
