Airbnb is hiring a Senior Data Scientist - Payments (Inference) (Remote - USA). This is a Data role listed on the official Airbnb careers site.
Key Responsibilities
Inference: Develop and apply causal inference methods, including experiments, econometric regressions, and quasi-experimental methods to measure platform and product impact.
AI/ML: Build methods for robust evaluation of ML/AI model performance, develop predictive models, and support evaluation of agentic and LLM-based systems.
Optimization: Simulate the impact of new interventions and develop data products to optimize product and operational strategies.
Communication: Deliver research reports and data visualizations, and present findings to stakeholders to drive impact.
Empowerment: Think strategically about opportunities to improve and scale measurement and customer insights.
Requirements
5+ years of industry experience in a quantitative role with a Master’s degree in a quantitative field, or 3+ years with a PhD.
Strong knowledge of causal inference, experimentation, applied statistical modeling, and end-to-end ML development.
Skilled in statistical programming (Python or R) and SQL.
Track record of owning a business or technical domain end to end.
Ability to communicate clearly to audiences of varying technical levels.
Salary: $179,000–$210,000 per year
