Job description
A leading financial firm is looking for a Senior Database Engineer to manage and evolve critical PostgreSQL and Oracle database infrastructure. This role will focus on database reliability, performance, scalability, and operational support across enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
Manage, support, and optimize PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.
Monitor database health and perform performance tuning and query optimization.
Build and maintain production and non-production database environments.
Oversee backup, recovery, replication, and high-availability solutions.
Partner with infrastructure teams on capacity planning and system performance initiatives.
Work closely with software engineers to improve database design and efficiency.
Troubleshoot complex database and platform issues.
Drive improvements to database architecture, automation, and operational processes.
Requirements
5+ years of database engineering or administration experience with PostgreSQL.
Oracle database experience preferred.
Strong Linux/Unix administration skills.
Experience with replication, clustering, failover, and high-availability technologies.
Expertise in database monitoring, tuning, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of storage infrastructure and SAN technologies is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Experience supporting business-critical production environments.
Familiarity with SDLC, source control, and change management practices.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly.
