ABOUT THE GROVE
The Grove exists to support and empower families. We're a Membership-based family club in Charlotte, built for kids and designed for adults: a place where families gather, kids grow through thoughtful programming, and parents actually get to enjoy the space too, cafe in hand. We opened in January 2024, have grown into a thriving community of Member families, and our second location is in development in Charleston. We grow through relationships and referrals, not marketing, and every person on our team helps carry that feeling of belonging.
THE ROLE
We are hiring the person whose job is completion. The Senior Director of Operations owns how The Grove runs day to day and builds it well enough to open the next location. You report directly to the Founder and CEO, and the seat exists to close the gap between fast-moving ideas and finished, executed results.
This is a real operating seat, not a coordinating one. You own execution, labor cost, standards, and the operating playbook that lets us open new locations without the founder rewriting it each time.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
Execution and follow-through: every commitment has an owner and a date, and gets closed out
Labor cost as a percentage of revenue: set targets and course-correct when needed
The operating playbook, maintained so any location can be opened directly from it
Standards for opening and closing procedures, facility, safety, staffing, and onboarding
Cafe operations: staffing, vendors, equipment, and cost of goods
A monthly operating report consolidating key metrics and trends for leadership
New location openings, starting with Charleston, including hiring and training new Directors
WHO YOU ARE
You have run operations across more than one site, or run one site well enough to open a second
You have owned a cost line and stayed accountable for the results, including when the numbers were unfavorable
You have managed managers and addressed performance issues directly
You finish what others start and keep track of every outstanding item
You build durable processes and let them run rather than constantly reworking them
You are comfortable and warm around children and parents
You know which priorities matter most and act on that judgment
SCHEDULE AND LOCATION
Substantial time on-site in Charlotte to start. Hours vary and include evening events and occasional weekends. Longer term the role is flexible between Charlotte, Charleston, or elsewhere with regular travel between locations.
