Job description
Sr. Electrical Engineer
Location: Kingsport, TN
Department: Engineering
$90-$120k
This position is centered around the mill’s electrical power-distribution system, reliability and electrical infrastructure .
Role
Responsible for the proper operation, maintenance, inspection, coordination and reliability of the mill’s power-distribution system.
The engineer also works directly with the mill’s electrical power provider and develops capital projects involving electrical distribution, drives, motors, PLCs, motor controls and MCCs.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, prioritize and implement improvements to the power distribution network
Develop capital improvements for paper machines and supporting equipment
Lead reliability and asset-management improvements
Ensure proper electrical standards, specifications and safety practices
Coordinate with:
Corporate engineering
Mill operations
Suppliers
Contractors
Provide technical leadership around AC variable-speed drives
Participate in or lead problem-solving events
Support mill electrical safety initiatives
Update electrical safety procedures
Participate in annual mill outages
Share electrical engineering best practices across Domtar.
Required
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
Proficiency with modern PC/Office software
AutoCAD
5–7 years manufacturing or power-distribution experience
3+ years AC variable-speed drive experience
3+ years PLC experience
Strong project management, planning, communication and problem-solving skills
Preferred
10 years manufacturing/power-distribution experience
5 years AC variable-speed drives
5 years PLCs
5 years CMMS experience , preferably SAP .
