Come be part of our BBQ! **Role Overview****Summary:**This position is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design, development, and integration of Mechanical and Electro-mechanical systems into our Outdoor Cooking products. In this role, you will work with a global cross-functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will gather product requirements and translate them into actionable specifications. This is a hybrid role requiring in-office days at our Palatine, IL campus. **Responsibilities:*** Lead fast paced, complex NPD projects from concept to completion* Develop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), P-Diagrams, and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)* Create and refine design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks) for sub-systems* Create and maintain Master Assembly (MASM)* Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements* Work collaboratively with globally distributed teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Product, Sales, Sourcing and Suppliers* Create complex 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of material* Support prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands-on testing and iterative learning* Designs and runs test plans related to project work* Perform basic IP searches* Planning builds and minor projects* Supports non-NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives* Knowledge of product lineup and competitive steps* Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership **Qualifications**:Education:* Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentWork Experience:* Minimum: 5+ years’ experience in a relevant field* Designing solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements* SolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modelingLeadership:* Ability to direct others* Coaching* Understanding of the team roles and responsibilitiesSkills:* Independent self-starter who can manage and prioritize work based on departmental goals and objectives* Effective communication (written, spoken, meeting facilitation)* Ability to work cross-functionally* Team Player* Results Oriented* Tolerance Analysis* GD&T* Six Sigma or Sigma Science* SolidWorks: sheet metal, surfacing, drawings, MASM, simulation* DFMEA, DVP&R, PPAP, Design for Assembly, Design for Manufacturing, Design for Reliability* Design for Regulatory and approval procedures* Sheel metal, injection molding and die casting development experience (preferred)* Liquid propane and natural gas fueled products (preferred)* Charcoal and pellet fueled products (preferred) **Benefits:*** Medical, dental, and vision coverage* Life and disability insurance* Employee Assistance Program (EAP)* 401(k) with company match* Eligible for paid time off (vacation, sick, personal, holiday) **Salary Range:** $100,000 - $118,000*\\* This salary range represents Weber Blackstone's good faith belief of what we reasonably expect to pay the top candidate*
