Role Overview

This position is a hands‑on Mechanical Engineer with a focus on New Product Development. This role is responsible for supporting all efforts related to the design, development, and integration of Mechanical and Electro‑mechanical systems into our Outdoor Cooking products. In this role, you will work with a global cross‑functional team to design and implement ideas using CAD models, drawings, cost estimates, prototyping, and testing products. This position will gather product requirements and translate them into actionable specifications.

This is a hybrid role requiring in‑office days at our Palatine, IL campus.

Responsibilities

Lead fast paced, complex NPD projects from concept to completion

Develop solutions through requirements decomposition, Design Failure Mode Effect Analysis (DFMEA), P‑Diagrams, and Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)

Create and refine design solutions to identified product requirements, formalize designs with the use of CAD (SolidWorks) for sub‑systems

Create and maintain Master Assembly (MASM)

Ensure that products are designed to meet all performance specifications and regulatory requirements

Work collaboratively with globally distributed teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Product, Sales, Sourcing and Suppliers

Create complex 3D models, 2D drawings, and bills of material

Support prototype creation and models to validate designs including hands‑on testing and iterative learning

Designs and runs test plans related to project work

Perform basic IP searches

Planning builds and minor projects

Supports non‑NPD initiatives including the resolution of quality issues, cost reductions, and productivity initiatives

Knowledge of product lineup and competitive steps

Develop unique and innovative solutions for unmet customer needs and/or new features to maintain product leadership

Qualifications

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Work Experience

Minimum: 5+ years’ experience in a relevant field

Designing solutions that meet regulatory and safety requirements

SolidWorks: Proficiency with 3D modeling

Leadership

Ability to direct others

Understanding of the team roles and responsibilities

SolidWorks: sheet metal, surfacing, drawings, MASM, simulation

Sheel metal, injection molding and die casting development experience (preferred)

Liquid propane and natural gas fueled products (preferred)

Charcoal and pellet fueled products (preferred)

Salary Range: $100,000 - $118,000

This salary range represents Weber Blackstone's good faith belief of what we reasonably expect to pay the top candidate
