Sr. Engineering Manager:

Our client in the Greater Cleveland, OH area is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager. This position leads and directs all aspects of site engineering and facility maintenance activities. Ensures all engineering projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformance with established policies and objectives. Responsible for the prioritization, design, development, installation, and overall execution of engineering projects for the site. Provides backup support to the value streams for equipment support. Responsible for people management within the Engineering department and functional competency development, as well as the continuous improvement of engineering processes and overall execution of engineering activities. Responsible for validation compliance across all internal operations.

Responsibilities: Responsible for effective leadership of the Engineering and Facility Maintenance departments and serves as a member of the Site Leadership Team.

Responsible for the direct supervision, performance management, training, coaching, and development of Engineering and Facility Maintenance staff.

Develops the Site Capital Plan with input from Value Streams, Quality, R&D, Purchasing, and Engineering. Manages the plant capital budget and implements plant layout improvements and optimization projects.

Prepares, monitors, and controls Engineering department budgets based on volume, headcount, and expenses. Responsible for cost improvement projects related to the engineering discipline.

Oversees site facility maintenance, renovations, site security, environmental monitoring and reporting, and hazardous waste handling. Ensures plant and office facilities remain in functional operating condition.

Directs the activities of the Labeling Group, including cost savings projects designed to increase manufacturing efficiencies.

Directs the activities of the Package Engineering department, including management of packaging capability projects and optimization of existing packaging systems.

Oversees validation of equipment and critical systems to ensure the facility is maintained in a state of control and in compliance with current regulations.

Directs process development efforts for drug and medical device products manufactured in-house. Identifies and implements larger process improvement projects not managed by the Value Streams.

Provides secondary support to Materials, Planning, Marketing, Sales, and Manufacturing in resolving engineering problems related to products.

Provides support and oversight on investigations and improvements in partnership with Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, EH&S, and other functions.

Oversees the Engineering Change Authorization process for the site.

Responsible for the equipment change control process and ensures adherence throughout the Value Streams.

Manages Engineering involvement in Product Quality Meetings, including participation in meetings, investigation of complaints, and resolution of engineering and manufacturing problems.

Identifies and implements technological and managerial improvements for the Engineering group.

Responsible for evaluations and recommendations regarding supplier capacity and capabilities for new capital projects.

Promotes and emphasizes adherence to applicable industry regulations throughout the plant.

Considers the impact of EPA, OSHA, FDA, and MDSAP requirements on daily operations and proposed projects.

Provides secondary support to the Engineering T&D team during the turnover of new product development and insourcing projects, including scale-up, installation, and training.

Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field.

Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience with progressively increasing responsibility.

Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience as a manager.

Demonstrated experience leading teams within manufacturing and project engineering environments.

Experience with capital improvement projects.

Experience working with and maintaining compliance with EPA, OSHA, FDA, and MDSAP requirements.

Preferred: Postgraduate studies in Engineering or Business Administration are preferred due to the position’s interaction with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Regulatory, and other functional areas.
