Job description
RealDefense is looking for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented, Senior FP&A Analyst to help run planning, forecasting, and performance reporting. You’ll report to the Director of Finance and partner with the heads of our revenue‑generating teams to provide visibility on business performance, collaborate on forecasting, and help teams determine where to focus next.
This role is for someone who is analytical and enjoys transforming data into meaningful insights. You’re capable of synthesizing information from multiple sources and translating analysis into clear, actionable recommendations that drive business decisions and improve performance. You’re also a builder who sees AI and automation as opportunities to do better work, not just faster work. You’ll have real room and support to enhance how our finance team operates.
What You’ll Do
Planning & Forecasting
Own the annual budget and rolling forecast processes, including consolidated and department‑level budgets, in partnership with the finance team and functional leaders.
Develop and maintain the corporate three‑statement model and driver‑based models for revenue, expenses, and working capital.
Run scenario and sensitivity analyses to support planning and strategic decisions.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare monthly and intra‑month flash reports covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and KPIs against budget and forecast.
Deliver variance analysis and management commentary regarding financial results that explains what happened, why it happened, and what we should do about it.
Produce weekly and monthly KPI reporting for the executive team and build dashboards tracking unit economics and SaaS/subscription metrics.
Develop materials for senior leadership and the board, including management meeting decks, quarterly board packages, and lender and PE sponsor reporting.
Support M&A and strategic projects as needed, including target modeling, valuation, diligence, and post‑acquisition tracking.
Business Partnering
Act as a key finance partner for Marketing, Call Center, Business Development, and the Product and Operations teams. Help them set targets, track results, and understand the drivers behind performance.
Deliver ad hoc analysis on pricing, marketing spend, headcount planning, and vendor and partner economics.
Work with Accounting on month‑end items that affect the forecast, and support audit requests and internal controls documentation for FP&A processes.
Process Improvement & AI
Identify and lead automation opportunities across FP&A workflows – data extraction, reconciliations, report generation, and variance commentary – using AI tools, scripting, and BI platforms.
Evaluate, pilot, and drive adoption of AI‑enabled finance tools (e.g., LLM assistants, AI‑native software, workflow automation), with appropriate controls, documentation, and data governance.
Partner with the BI/Data team to build a single source of truth for financial and operational data.
What You Bring
5+ years of progressive FP&A or corporate finance experience, ideally in a technology, SaaS, or subscription business.
Strong attention to detail. You check your own work, reconcile to the source, and catch errors before anyone else does.
Advanced Excel skills with experience building driver‑based models.
Working knowledge of marketing and subscription metrics such as CAC, LTV, churn, cohorts, and payback.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
A solid understanding of GAAP, three‑statement linkages, and working capital.
Experience in a PE‑backed or founder‑led company, including board and lender reporting, is preferred.
Excellent communication skills: able to partner with senior executives and operational teams.
Strategic thinker with a hands‑on mindset, able to translate financial insights into business actions.
Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Copilot to speed up analysis or automate work.
A bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. An MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus.
