Construction InspectorRK&K is hiring an experienced Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) team in and around Charlotte, NC. The Construction Inspector will conduct field inspections for a wide range of Transportation, Highways and Structural construction projects in the heavy civil industry.Essential FunctionsPerform complex and routine inspections of construction to evaluate if appropriate materials and construction processes are being used; and that construction conforms to plans, specifications, and special provisionsMultitask management of project assignmentsConduct field inspectionsUse mobile devices to document work - as required in North CarolinaReviews drawings to prepare for the inspection. Understands the design of the construction that will be inspectedDocuments the results of the inspection and communicates to the supervisorConducts field measurements to establish quantities for pay item documentation as well as other contract administration documentationInspects work zones for proper traffic control setup, erosion control devices and maintenance thereof, utility coordination and right-of-way issue resolutionRequired Skills and ExperienceAt least five (5) years of roadway inspection experience for highway construction methods, materials, standards and specificationsValid driver's license and favorable driving recordAbility to lift up to 50 poundsPreferred Skills and ExperienceNCDOT Certifications preferred:NCDOT Erosion & Sediment Control Level IINCDOT Introduction to Asphalt PavementsNCDOT QMS Roadway TechnicianNCDOT Concrete Field TechnicianACI Concrete Field TechnicianNCDOT ABC Sampling TechnicianNCDOT Borrow Pit Sampling TechnicianNCDOT Conventional Density TechnicianNICET CertificationsPhysical DemandsThis role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20–30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation.
