Description

A well-established industrial manufacturer with a century-plus track record and a global footprint (11,000+ employees across North America, South America, Europe, and Asia) is looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their facility that is closely situated to Staunton, Virginia

This is a company built on solving tough engineering problems for mission-critical applications, with a strong internal culture around continuous improvement and lean operations.

The Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to solve problems. You'll investigate alternative solutions for assigned projects, develop cost information for each, and either drive execution yourself or bring recommendations to leadership, depending on project scope. You'll design or specify equipment to meet manufacturing needs, ranging from minor process tweaks to major facility modifications or new equipment installs.

On larger projects, like standing up complex equipment that's been purchased new or transferred from another plant, you'll work directly with operations and corporate staff, owning installation, set up, debugging, implementation, and training. You'll act as the liaison between the plant floor and broader operations staff on these projects.

You may also be pulled into special projects like new model launches, helping integrate new products into existing manufacturing processes.

Evaluate solutions for efficiency and cost effectiveness

Maintain hands-on knowledge of operating systems and mechanical equipment across the plant

Stay current on mechanical and electrical technology to keep improving manufacturing processes

Keep the Manufacturing Engineering Manager informed on project status

5+ years of experience in a related technical field

Ability to work independently across multiple projects of varying complexity

A track record of taking initiative and applying past experience to solve new problems

Experience coordinating capital expenditure requests for assigned projects

Solid grounding in lean manufacturing principles

Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and tooling

Experience with APQP in support of project launches
