Job description

Do you enjoy collaborating with others to create innovative products and services? As a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, you'll function as the technical lead and lead the practical application of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) on key company projects. You'll be responsible for designing and developing complex tooling and robust manufacturing processes, ensuring that our most important products are built efficiently and reliably. You will also mentor other engineers in best practices.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn‑key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

Responsibilities

Function as the Technical Lead for implementation of DFM/DFA principles on critical new product introduction (NPI) programs to ensure designs are optimized for production.

Collaborate with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability and quality standards.

Architect the process flow and workstation layout for new production lines, ensuring optimal efficiency and ergonomics.

Design, develop, and validate sophisticated production tooling and fixtures.

Conduct in-depth root cause analysis and implement robust corrective actions.

Mentor and coach junior engineers on best practices and technical skills.

Drive and lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

Qualifications You Must Have

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline.

10+ years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering.

Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.

Demonstrated expertise in leading DFM/DFA workshops for complex systems.

Proven experience managing the manufacturing engineering deliverables for a complete product lifecycle, from concept to production ramp.

Expert proficiency with computer-aided design (CAD) software and process documentation.

Extensive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.

Advanced knowledge of engineering principles and practices.

Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Qualifications We Prefer

Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.

Experience with digital manufacturing and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Extensive background in Aerospace and Defense industry.

Capability to apply and interpret Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.

Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.

Knowledge of industry standard design principles, to include, but not limited to, parametric design, model-based definition, material hardware selection, manufacturing and production processes.

Familiarity with work instruction/traveller development.

Participation in dispositions of Non-Conformance generation through a Material Review Board (MRB).

Experience with new product introduction and transition to production.

Exposure to Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), Manufacturing Execution System (MES), and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems.

Essential Functions

Ability to work on a computer for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.

Ability to work in a hybrid environment with occasional travel.
