Lead mechanical design and serve as project manager for building systems projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.

Develop and review construction documents, technical specifications, and cost estimates.

Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (e.g., ASHRAE, local building codes).

Manage project scope, schedule, and budgets for assigned projects.

Serve as the primary point of contact for select projects, building and maintaining strong client relationships.

Coordinate and manage multi‑disciplinary design teams, including internal civil, structural, and electrical staff.

Oversee construction administration activities, including submittal review, responses to RFIs, and site visits.

Lead and participate in internal and external project meetings, maintaining clear communication with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Support proposal development, level‑of‑effort estimating, and project planning.

Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the mechanical team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.

10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering design for building systems (HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection).

Professional Engineer (PE) license required.

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for MEP design.

Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection, and applicable building codes and ASHRAE standards.

Experience managing projects through design and construction phases.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients and project teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Familiarity with BIM coordination tools preferred.

Ability to travel to job sites in CT, MA, and RI.

This position may be open to a flexible, part‑time arrangement of 20+ hours per week. Candidates seeking a reduced schedule are encouraged to apply.
